Bridal Makeup FAQ

Here is a list of FAQ's I get from brides (as well as other clients)

1. Do I have to bring my own makeup?

The products that I use are high quality professional cosmetics.  They are long lasting, photochromic (won't give you a white / shiny appearance) products.  So there is no need for you to bring your own makeup.

2. Should I book a makeup trial?

Consider te following factors...

Do you know what type of look you'd be going for?

Type of products that the artist use - will they last the whole day?

3. Why is Bridal makeup more expensive than the rest?

Bridal makeup is usually done on location, so traveling cost needs to be taken into consideration.  Furthermore theere is more pressure on me as the artist to make sure that the brides makeup expectations are exceeded. Pricing also reflects experience, training, labour and product replacement cost.

4. When should I pay?

As soon as you decided on which makeup artist you would like to use, arrange for the deposit to be paid as soon as possible to secure your date. Good makeup artists usually are booked months in advance.

5. Do you come to my house on the day?

Yes, travelling cost is calculated into the bridal makeup fee, provided you are within the Port Elizaeth area.  If outside PE, travelling fees will apply.

6. Should I have my hair or makeup done first?

To make sure your makeup looks fresher longer, do your makeup lastly.

7. How long will it take for you to do my makeup?

I work on 40minutes average per person.

Before your makeup application....

As a makeup artist I have some pretty amazing products to make you look and feel like a princess, may it be on your wedding day, or for the event that you are attending... BUT you have some prepping to do before your visit to me.

So here is the low down....

1. Should you choose not to book a makeup trial, and you are Googling for some makeup ideas PLEASE select pictures of makeup applied on women who have similar makeup features as you.

2.  Should you wish to go for a facial do so a month - 2 weeks before your event.

3.  Do not make any drastic changes to your normal skincare regime.

4.  **Most Importantly** Should you decide not to go for a facial the best advice I can give you is to exfoliate.... By exfoliating you rid the skin of any dead skincells which might give the skin a dull, sallow and flaky appearance (especially on the nose area).  When your skin is naturally radiant moisturizers, concealers etc will glide on and your skin will appear flawless.

It is very important that you have a proper skincare regime in place. When someone asks me for advice on which product to use to cover up pigmented areas I always recommend that they find a solution to their skin problem first by going to see a reputable skincare therapist that uses high quality products, instead of trying to cover up their blemishes. A dummies guide to Inglot... :)

It's no secret, I'm Inglot-whipped... And loving it!  When I received my very first palette from my good friend, Cicilia, in June 2011, little did I know how deeply I was going to fall in love with Inglot :)

So what is it about this professional cosmetic brand that has me hooked? What makes it so much better than other brands available in South Africa? Why is it different?

This I'll discuss under a few headings:

First up, inglot's unparalleled excellence in customer service. I regularly deal with the ladies from the store in Canal Walk, Cape Town and what a pleasure it is.  Lana, Alicia, Evelynn and Anje are very professional and give the best advice on products that you can imagine!

Secondly, the products itself - high quality, durable, versatile. My most favourite product at the moment has to be a toss up between the Duraline liquid (added to gel liners and mascaras when they become dry or added to pigments and eye shadows to make wet eye shadows and colour liners) and their gel liners which glides on smoothly, looks like a liquid liner, can be used on the waterline of the eye as well as a base for eyeshadow on the eyelid. It is long lasting and a pleasure to work with.

Inglot has something that is called the Freedom system... The best thing since sliced bread! It works like this: you decide the size and the colours of your palette. Minimum colours you can choose in this range is 2. So instead of purchasing a set palette from local retailers (because you only like 1 colour) you can customize your own palette. Palettes are refillable and magnetic.

(there are many other products available including nail polishes)

Normal eyeshadows weigh 1,5 g, Inglot eyeshadows weigh an average of 2,7 g.

How Eclipse Photography was born...

It all began in the Autumn of 2008... Reino and I had been introduced to each other by a very dear friend of mine, Githe-Meret, wedding co-ordinator at Mentors Country Estate might I add....

He invited me to spend a weekend with him and some friends at Bushmans River. With a borrowed digital camera Reino discovered that weekend that he enjoyed shooting people (in a different kind of way since he was an esteemed paintballer).

*a moment of silence for the borrowed camera who never made it home after that weekend after it got some water damage...*

Anyhoo, for the next few weeks Reino was begging me every single weekend to play model for him... And on one quiet Sunday afternoon I decided "hmmmmm, maybe this won't be so bad...." and off we went... Armed with (another) borrowed camera, Canon 1000D and self-made scrims (food trays covered with tin foil! Hahahaha) -which we still have today by the way... (no longer in use for those of you who are worried...)

Reino edited the pics of our first shoot the same night and loaded them on Facebook... The feedback inspired us to do more shoots... (since then there has been some major quality improvements, we invested in a decent camera and lenses and bought 2 sets of professional mobile lighting and Reino's lead time for photographs are 6 - 8 weeks, and judging by the positive feedback we receive from our clients, worth the wait!)

And on that day Eclipse Photography was born...

I had finished my health and skincare course in 2007, little did i know it would be just in time for us  to start this new venture together... 

Lately I started taking an interest in taking and retouching my own makeup photographs.... 

We have the pleasure of meeting the most amazing individuals and see the most breathtaking places...

Who knows what exciting things the future has in store for us....
